Great news for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Not so great news for BAMMA.
That’s because its Middleweight Champion is going to be joining the ranks of the world’s largest fight promotion, as first reported by Fighters Only. And he’s not going alone, as undefeated mixed martial arts (MMA) Light Heavyweight Jimi Manuwa will reportedly be by his side.
Two great additions for two stacked divisions.
Watson (15-4) is riding a three-fight win streak, having last beat the stuffing out of Jack Marshman at the BAMMA 9 event back in March. “Kong” holds notable wins over Murilo Ruaand Travis Galbraith. And by notable, I mean “violently kicked in the head.”
The Jackson’s MMA product will appear at the UFC’s upcoming Nottingham show on FUEL TV this September, taking on “Ultimate Fighter” veteran Brad Tavares.
Like Watson, the aforementioned Manuwa (11-0) has been dominating the UK fight scene, plying his trade for the Ultimate Challenge MMA (UCMMA) promotion across the pond. In addition to being undefeated, the “Poster Boy” has 10 of 11 finishes by way of knockout or technical knockout.
Scary stuff.
While Watson is now confirmed by the UFC, Manuwa’s Octagon debut is still pending; however, we’ll be sure to bring you that information just as soon as it’s made available.
Stay tuned.
